Technology Expert Assignment

Picture
One of the best ways to understand something is to teach it.  One of the areas you might know better than your parents or grandparents is technology.  Wouldn't it be great to teach them something new and learn more about what makes a technology potentially great or not so good?  You will be asked to teach technology to an adult (such as a parent or grandparent).  Choose to do a short 'how to' video, a PowerPoint presentation, a paper based item (i.e. a brochure), or a web page to explain your technology.   Examples of short "how to" videos can be viewed at http://www.teachparentstech.org

First you will complete the Technology Expert Outline which includes researching three websites.  You will be asked to: select what technology you want to teach (i.e. software, hardware, websites, or gaming platforms); determine your motivation and purpose selecting this person and technology; as well as  researching and listing what is good and potentially bad about the technology.

Next you will fill out, submit, and print  the Technology Expert Assignment Step by Step Guide which has been sent to your student email.  Once you have completed and presented a Pre-Planning Sheets you will be ready to start working.  Access to equipment such as Macintosh computers and flip cameras will be on a first come and time limited bases. Bring a flash drive or blank CD as you will be expected to use your product to help teach the technology to your adult student. An Adult Student Survey will be filled by your adult learner and returned to me by you. Finish off by completing and submit the Technology Expert Survey which has been sent to your email.
